Meet Ella, Health Care Assistant at Dearnevale
Ella was brand-new to care when she started as a Health Care Assistant at Dearnevale. Now, she couldn’t imagine doing anything else. She’s done lots of training to support her ambition of training to become a Nurse.

My job as a Health Care Assistant is all about putting the people we support at the heart of everything we do, to make their day that little bit better.

It’s such a rewarding role. I’ve always liked putting other people's interests before my own, so I get satisfaction out of working here and helping others.

Before I started, I thought I'd be working with a group of people with similar injuries and illnesses.

On my first day I quickly realised that’s not the case. Everybody's an individual, with different interests and personalities.

I support people with conditions such as brain injuries, Huntington’s disease and mental health conditions, which makes the role really diverse.

The best part of my job is spending time with the people we support.

We’ve created such a fun environment, and to see the smiles on people’s faces and the difference we make is incredible.

At Exemplar Health Care, we’re offered so much training and support that you can take your career wherever you want!

For me, I want to use the experience I’ve gained as a Health Care Assistant to go on to do my nursing training before coming back to Dearnevale as a Registered Nurse.

I wouldn't change my job for the world!
